Frequently asked questions

Q: What are labor law posters?

A: Labor Law posters are made up of mandated employee law notices required to be posted by local, state, and/or federal agencies.

Q: What is an All-In-One poster?

A: The All-In-One poster is the collection of required notices all on one poster, so the employer only needs to purchase one poster instead of a number of smaller notices. Some states only have a few notices while other states have many.

Q: Aren’t these notices free downloads from the state and federal websites?

A: Yes, but most states offer downloads of individual notices of varying sizes. Our All-In-One posters conveniently have all required notices on one poster, laminated (with an option for framed), and include version numbers so you can easily and quickly determine whether or not you need to update. Therefore, you are purchasing not just our poster but the research and service that goes into providing a compliant product.

Q: How do I know if I have the most current poster?

A: We have version numbers on all state and federal posters in the lower right corner. If you already have one of our posters, check the version number on the poster against the version number on our web site to see if you need to update. There is also a QR code on each poster that will tell you if your poster is current or not.

Q: How does the version number system work?

A: We use a decimal system to differentiate between substantive and non-substantive changes. The number to the left of the decimal indicates substantive changes while the number to the right of the decimal indicates non-substantive changes. For example, version 2.2 indicates that the poster in question has had 1 substantive change (from 1.0 to 2.0) but then had 2 non-substantive changes (from 2.0 to 2.2). Non-substantive changes do NOT require a new poster. Therefore, if you currently have a poster of version 2.0 and our current version is 2.2, you are still compliant and do NOT need a new poster. You will need to update if/when the version changes to 3.0, in this case.

Q: What is a QR code?

A: The QR code is typically located in the lower right corner of our standard state and federal posters. Using a QR code reader on your smart phone will bring up a page that will let you know if that poster is current or outdated. There are many free apps available that will read a QR code.

Q: What is a kit?

A: A kit includes a state and a federal poster shipped together.

Q: What is a combo?

A: A combo is a state and federal together on one poster.

Q: How do I know when a change occurs?

A: We keep the most recent changes listed on our main page just below the slideshow banner. Alternatively, you may select the Recent Changes option on the menu bar at the top to check on a specific state. If one of our sales representatives is regularly servicing your company, they will send you change notice emails as they occur.

Q: Who is required to post labor law posters?

A: Any company that has two or more employees.

Q: Where do I display the labor law posters?

A: The poster must be displayed in a conspicuous place accessed by all employees daily, such as in a break room or near a time clock. Public notices, such as No Smoking or No Weapons Allowed by example, must be posted where the public can easily see them upon entering the establishment.

Q: What if I don’t have anywhere to hang labor law posters?

A: Our state and federal posters have the Kiosk option when ordering. These are legal-sized pads where each notice is on a separate page with all pages bound together with a cardboard backing. These are ideal for employees in locations that do not have walls to hang posters on, such as kiosks in the mall or employees at home or on the road. Alternatively, we off an ePoster service which is basically an online breakdown of the state and federal posters. For more information on the ePoster service, click here.

Q: How do I find out what posters I need?

A: We have a Poster Requirements section (click here) that lists the notices on each state’s All-In-One but also what Specialty posters are required by state. Most of these are obvious in the title – City, County, Industry – while some are only for public businesses.

Q: How do I get tracking for my order?

A: Log into your account and it will be on your order. Alternatively, your sales representative can provide it to you.
